Help Fill The Bucket
The purpose of this letter is to ask your organization to consider making a product or monetary donation to a benefit that we are having for Jeff Rennekamp.
Jeff Rennekamp, age 36, an Independence native, is a Registered Nurse at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood, Kentucky, having begun his employment as a patient transporter there in 1990. A former Independence Firefighter and Paramedic, Jeff had his left leg amputated at the Mayo Clinic due to cancer in 1998. While unable to physically meet the demands of this job, most people would have taken disability, but not Jeff. He enrolled the nursing program at Northern Kentucky University and completed his requirements to become an RN in 2000. He worked for several years in the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department at St. Elizabeth. Most recently, he has been working in the Information Systems area of the Emergency Department.
For several years, Jeff has been dealing with the effects of this original cancer and having multiple surgeries and treatments to deal with the progression of this disease. Unfortunately he now has a large, progressive and inoperable spinal tumor that has caused him to be paralyzed. He is being cared for at home by his wife, Amy—who is also a St. E. RN--and the home hospice program at St. Elizabeth. His prognosis is grim.
The benefit is scheduled for Friday September 18, 7:00 p.m., to Midnight, at the Drawbridge Inn Hotel, Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. We will have music by DJ Robbie Meeks, cash bar, appetizers, basket raffles, and split-the-pot. If your donation is a product, we will use it in our basket raffle (possibly combined with other items). If you choose to make a cash donation, we will gladly add that to the general fund. Please make your check payable to the "Jeff Rennekamp Fund."
Your donation will be acknowledged and published in our event program, listed on donation posters, and announced during the event. Please include any business card or promotional flyers from your organization to include with the gift. We will gladly send someone from our committee to pick up your donation.
